NHS England is introducing its own auto-registration feature, which allows your clinical system supplier (e.g. TPP/EMIS) to automatically process a small number of new patient registrations directly into your clinical system.
Because this registration is created by your clinical system supplier, you will still need to manually review and code the remaining data. These registrations cannot be rejected by the practice.
This is separate from Healthtech-1 automation. Healthtech-1 only displays these registrations and does not automate or code them.
For details on the rollout and how this interacts with Healthtech-1βs automation, see our overview article here.
How NHS England Auto-Registrations Look in the Hub
You will see a banner for each registration that has been processed by your clinical system provider. This clearly shows that the patient was auto-registered by your clinical system (not Healthtech-1).
Two new signals have been added for flagging patients auto-registered by your clinical system supplier - these help you identify which parts of the patient record require manual coding.
1 - "This registration has been entered automatically by your clinical system"
This signal appears immediately when your clinical system auto-registers the patient.
It means there is data from the NHS England form you must manually code, such as:
Alcohol intake
Pharmacy
Summary Care Record
Emergency contact
Other uncoded fields from the NHSE form
Healthtech-1 does not code any of this data for NHSE-processed patients.
2 - "This registration has Local Form answers which have not been coded"
We allow up to 48 hours for the patient to complete the Local Form.
Once completed (or after 48 hours if partially completed), these patients will appear in Patients to Review, with this signal active.
Where do I find the data that needs manual coding?
You will need to manually code the additional data (from both the NHS England registration form and the local form).
Use the "View additional data" button on any patients which are signalled as having been coded with the automated registration functionality.
Both the NHS England form and the local form contain data that needs coding.
You'll first be prompted to look at the NHS England data as soon as the registration is processed.
You may then be prompted again if the patient goes on to complete the local form (which they have up to 48 hours to complete)
Additional Data Popup
This will bring up a windows showing a collection of data points that you may wish to record and/or set on the patient's record.
Archiving the Registration
Once you have finished, you can "Mark as reviewed" and the registration will be filed away in the Archived folder.
In line with our data processing agreement with NHS England, registration forms will remain accessible here, for 60 days. This ensures that you can refer back to the registration form if needed during this timeframe.
