How do we know if and when to recommend a patient a Non-GP appointment?
Bookable uses Care Navigation to decide which appointment to recommend to the patient based on the clinicians capabilities and the category that has been matched.
What is Care Navigation?
The Care Navigation in Bookable uses our internal AI matching algorithm to take the request a patient makes, by free-typing a response to 'How we can help?', and matching it to a clinician capability or other category.
We take into account the information provided by the patient including their date of birth and sex
We then recommend which pathway a patient should follow to receive care. These pathways may be external NHS services (Dental, Self-referral for pregnancy care) or internal appointments with particular clinicians (Nurse, ANP, GP).
We determine which pathway to recommend to the patient based on the clinician capabilities, which you configure.
How can I set capabilities for a clinician?
Adding New Clinicians π¨ββοΈ
In order for a clinician to show on this list in the Hub, we need to have detected a Bookable appointment slot with that clinician on your clinical system.
You can follow this article to learn how to add Bookable slots into the appointment book. π
Once added, wait around 20 minutes for us to scan the appointment, and the clinician will appear in the Hub! π₯³
Once we have scanned the appointment with the clinician, you'll need to configure their capabilities via the Hub to let us know what they can safely handle. To do this you will need to:
Sign into the Hub
βClick on the Bookable tab at the top of the screen and then select 'Clinicians' in the left hand panel
Select the clinician from the list you would like to configure
Set the clinicians role type, gender and any languages they speak
βGo through the capabilities listed and tick/untick as appropriate
βScroll to the bottom and hit save!
π‘Tips & tricks
If you have multiple clinicians of the same type, who can do the same thing, you can copy and paste all capabilities onto another clinician.
What are clinician capabilities?
A clinician capability may describe a symptom, condition, or procedure. They are aligned to defined competencies and typical patterns of demand in primary care.
π¬ Scope and limits
Clinician capabilities are not exhaustive. They represent presentations that allied health professionals (AHPs) can safely and appropriately manage in clinic.
Requests that fall outside these clinician capabilities are intentionally routed to a GP. This reduces inappropriate AHP bookings and supports safe care navigation.
π§ββοΈ Clinician Types
We support a number of different clinician types:
Nurses
Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs)
Physicians Associates (PAs)
Physiotherapists
Paramedics
Healthcare Assistants
Pharmacists
Mental Health Practitioners
If you think there's a category that your clinicians can do that isn't represented by our list, we'd love to know!
Please get in touch with [email protected] to make your request β¨
Why can't I see the Bookable settings?
You need the Bookable Admin role in order to see settings in Bookable. If you don't have this, just get in touch with support and we can get this added for you π¬
